Beirut Stairs Revive
Interdisciplinary and Project-oriented teaching
The designs were created in collaboration with young residents and important interest groups. The NGO “Catalytic Action” organised several participatory workshops to gather ideas and suggestions for the design. The architects of the NGO and UNIDO transferred the results to various interventions, particularly to the wooden urban furniture.
The intervention took place in three areas in Beirut and included a multi-layered design development that involved prototyping with university students, the production of samples, and the manufacture of urban furniture by local carpenters, as well as the joint installation of the seating options.
